Good to Great Leadership Program

Organizations (and their people) now operate in a permanent state of change.

Being adaptable and agile, are now recognised as the indispensable qualities of effective organisations and people. A critical influence on agility (or lack thereof) is the leadership style provided within the organization. When high leadership competencies and behaviors are experienced within the organization – Improved Business outcomes are also experienced.

Global Research from Gallup, Harvard School of Business and have been tracking Employee Engagement trends for decades and there is a direct correlation between Employee Engagement and Business Outcomes.

“Engaged employees are more present and productive; they are more attuned to the needs of customers; and they are more observant of processes, standards and systems.” In particular, engaged teams demonstrated:

  • 41% reduction in absenteeism
  • 17% increase in productivity
  • 59% less turnover in low-turnover organizations, 24% less turnover in high-turnover organizations
  • 10% increase in customer ratings
  • 20% increase in sales

All of these effects taken together significantly increased one of the most important metrics for any organization: a 21% boost to profitability.

However this is not the case within most organizations:- Due to the lack of leadership behaviors among the key managers – especially the C Suite Level, most organizations experience the opposite effects. Toxic workplace cultures are identified by the following trends:

  • The war for talent. The Highly Engaged Staffing component keep leaving. The Great Resignation is upon us and only organizations with good culture are attract top talent.
  • Toxic workplace practices are maintained and not challenged. We call this “Rat” Behavior – Corpo”rat” Managers who undermine staff, gossip, Treat people without respect will quickly find themselves alone with the organization -loosing their best people to the new workplace.
  • High Distrust
  • Low morale
  • Low productivity
  • Fear
  • Stress

Leadership is Influence – nothing more nothing less. There are key principles on how do we grow our influence with other people. Moving away from a transactional mindset to a transformational leadership mindset is the first step.

Leaders create standards of excellence and set an example for others to follow. They put up signposts when people feel unsure of where to go or how to get there. Leaders create opportunities for victory.

Encourage the Heart

Leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand. Your ability to relate, communicate, anticipate are the key competencies into improving your teams motivation and engagement.

To keep hope and determination alive, leaders recognize the contributions that individuals make. In every winning team, the members need to share in the rewards of their efforts, so leaders celebrate accomplishments. They make people feel like heroes.

Enable Others to Act

The leadership attributes included in this section focus on getting results individually, organizationally and as a team.Leaders strive to create an atmosphere of trust and and high performance. They balance care and candor to keep people moving int he same direction. They strengthen others, making each person feel capable and powerful. Developing others leaders are a key component to this domain.

Create Positive Change

Leaders search for opportunities to change the status quo. They look for innovative ways to improve the organization. In doing so, they experiment and take risks. Since complex change threatens to overwhelm people and stifle action, leaders set interim goals so that people can achieve small wins as they work toward larger objectives. Effective leaders unravel bureaucracy when it impedes action. And, because leaders know that taking risks involves mistakes and failures, they accept occasional disappointments as opportunities to learn.

Inspire a Shared Vision

Leaders passionately believe they can make a difference. They envision the future and create an ideal and unique image of what the organization can become. Through their magnetism and persuasion, leaders enlist others in their dreams. They breathe life into their visions and get people to see exciting possibilities for the future.
